About
This website is intended as a guide for carnivorous plant (CP) fans to help them find the scarce and rare literature for their hobby and to give information about the numerous CP books, most of which have been out-of-print (OOP) for a long time. Initially starting as a mere collecter's passion for these books, an idea began to grow. The many personal contacts and important experiences with booksellers, antiquarian dealers, collectors and bookscout worldwide, the shipping methods, postal charges and international money transfers as well as the "secret codes" full of abbreviations and insider terms to describe antiquarian books and their condition -- all this know-how should not only be of advantage to my own collection but benefit other CP fans as well. One very direct way to achieve this is by offering surplus copies from my permanent international orders, purchases from other collectors, or from swaps. In addition, I offer a free booksearch service that is intended to help you complete your book collection, or acquire rare or out-of-print titles. This service can be on any topic, and is not limited to CP literature. I offer a free English newsletter which is sent to interested persons by email. It gives information about new publications or on books going out of print, reader's reviews, pointers to CP coverage in more general books or journals and of course updates and additions to the sales catalog. If you want to receive the newsletter just send a short eMail! The website and the services behind it need your help! By swapping or selling your surplus or no longer needed books or by writing a book review or another contribution you give other CP fans some means of intensifying their hobby beyond mere growing and breeding. The studies of specialized literature continuously offer new aspects: cultural hints of well-known CP experts, breathtaking pictures by excellent photographers, informative details and insights from the drawings of talented botanists and illustrators, and exciting accounts and reports on the history of these plants and the men which discovered them and studied their nature. |
